R&D Project Leader (Respiratory Therapeutic Area)

Job Description

R&D Project Leader (PL) is a manager position to oversee and coordinates R&D projects at Respiratory therapeutic area.
PL is responsible typically for Project portfolio at assigned therapeutic area and its updating, development strategy and plan, time lines, budget, and quality guidelines for projects, reporting to R&D Head, in cooperation with Asia Pacific Management. 

Major Accountabilities

l Define R&D portfolio strategy at an assigned therapeutic area, in cooperation with Regional R&D Head and Asia Pacific R&D Project Manager, with Market Development/Assessment and any other functions needed to achieve its missions .

l Identify the priority among the portfolio and initiate to BD typically for licensing opportunity strategically decided.

l Establish and carry out portfolio strategy at an assigned therapeutic area to maximize returns on such portfolio management.

l Collaborate with Global/Regional Project Manager to build “one voice” concept into global portfolio strategy, and to ensure adherence to global portfolio guidelines while making balance with and implementing with local strategy.

l Key interfaces include: R&D Head; Market Assessment Head, Business Plan& Control Head. BD when necessary

l Key teams include: Asia Pacific

Ideal Background


l University degree in pharmaceuticals and/or bioscience

l Advanced degree in pharmaceuticals/bioscience preferred

l English both spoken and written

l Japanese as fluent

l Significant (>5 years) experience in R&D development function and R&D planning function in the pharmaceutical industry.

l Demonstrated ability to think broadly and innovate within the pharmaceutical business, especially around product strategy and development plan and achievement

l Proven ability to work effectively across a matrixes and widely-dispersed organization

l Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills

l Demonstrated facilitation skills and success

l Excellent analytical ability

l Working knowledge of pharmaceutical R&D procedures and trends, and thorough understanding of product- relevant bioscience

l Must be experimented in Project Management tools

l Must have knowledge of principles as GCP and PAL guidelines
