US based opportunity :Leverage is currently recruiting for a well-known U.S. based Partnership that actively invests in companies publicly listed in Japan. Our client is looking to hire bilingual investment professionals to oversee their Japanese yen equity small-cap product, long-only. Candidates will need to have excellent experience in portfolio management, in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis, Japanese public equities, and a solid understanding of small-cap or micro-cap Japanese company management. The position is based on the West Coast of the United States and my client will cover domestic or international relocation expenses and offer extremely competitive compensation. Location has a decent sized Japanese community near to several Japanese schools, so candidates with families are welcome. My client can provide visa sponsorship if necessary. Position requires overseas travel to Japan 7-8 times per year for approximately one week each trip. Preferred years of experience: Requirement is flexible, but strong preference for candidates with a minimum of 3-10+ years of buy-side experience in analysis or portfolio management of Japanese public equities. Ideal Profile: -Candidate can either be a non-Japanese or Japanese National with excellent English and Japanese. My client is relatively flexible with the English language requirements, however excellent Japanese language skills are necessary (1-kyu for non-Japanese). Job Description: The Portfolio Team members will be involved in several levels of work: industry research, conducting intense fundamental analysis of investment candidates, meeting with management of candidate companies and developing presentations for portfolio companies. The portfolio team uses a variety of methods to analyze companies including building earnings models, DCF models, peer analysis, industry analysis, competitive analysis, etc. Creativity is encouraged and they encourage the team to develop unique research methods to use in addition to the rigorous methods that are standard tools of the firm. Candidates will be responsible for portfolio company relationships, identifying ways that the firm can help its holdings increase firm value and implementing the strategy. He/she will have significant interaction with all levels of portfolio company management and will also work very closely with the firm's partners to develop appropriate strategies for portfolio companies.
